Dependent Drop Down

Make your "drop-down" lists (F2 lists or "Pick Lists") dependent on the value entered into any field on your ACT! record.

With ACT! for Windows, you can create a "Drop Down" list (or F2 list or "Pick" list) for any text field. You can then use this list to select a value for the field.

However, the list is "constant" - it is the same every time you open the list.

There are many cases where you would like the Drop Down list to contain only certain values, depending on what is entered in another field. For example, if the ID/Status field holds "Vendor", you may want your Services field to show a list of Bookkeeping, Legal, HAC, Landscaping, etc. But, when the ID/Status field holds "Client", you may want your Services field to show a list of services you offer your clients.

Dependent Drop Down provides a replacement for the Drop Down List window.  In the Dependent Drop Down window, the list of items varies, based on the value already present in some other field.

(Users of Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT should refer to the article in the Microsoft Knowledgebase regarding the MS Jet Engine v4.0 to obtain proper support for the MS Access 2000 database used in support of Dependent Drop Down.
You may need to download and install a "patch" that loads required files into your Windows system.)
To install Dependent Drop Down in free "trial" mode:
  1. Download the installation file
    (Install_DependentDropDown.exe),
    and remember where you saved it.
  2. Shut down all running programs.
  3. Run the instatllation file from where you saved it in step 1.
  4. Note: All products install into the c:\program files\tnhg folder.
The New Hampton Group has developed a number of ACT! add-on utilities and products that enhance ACT!'s capabilities. These products are available for free download as "trial" software - after installation, they will run in "crippled" mode (only a limited number of records per execution) or only for a limited amount of time (30 days after installation) or for a limited number of uses (30 or 50 executions).

Any product can be "registered" by clicking the "Register Now" button in the upper left corner of the application window. Click the "Print Reg Form" button to display a registration form. Copy the User Code 1 and User Code 2 values onto the Registration form and provide the requested payment information.
